Dr. Mary Kaltenberg
Driven by passion
Dr. Mary Kaltenberg is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Pace University in New York. She completed her BA and MA in Economics and Liberal Arts at The New School and earned her PhD in Economics from UNU-MERIT / Maastricht University. Her current research investigates the economics of innovation, science policy, and collaboration networks, specifically exploring how in-person versus virtual environments and geographic proximity shape scientific partnerships and breakthrough ideas.
Kaltenberg's Philosophy is...No amount of money will make your life interesting—follow your passion. Economics is not merely a collection of formulas; it is a fundamental way of thinking about the world and how people make choices. When students feel intimidated by upper-level coursework, remember: you’re not bad at math, you’re just bad at practicing math. Like any skill, quantitative fluency grows with consistent practice, patience, and curiosity.
